Knit and cast a research net
Today, the clock moves one hour faster which allows more daylight-saving time in a day. This is also known as ’spring forward’ versus ‘fall back’. In one month, the Cow Bay is going to be where the fish swimming upstream.
The fishing net is knitted by each line, every line was fastened by each knot. Academic career is to cast your net for the ‘fish’, which could be a grant ‘eaten’ for years or the next job contact lasting for year. Putting aside how to and when to cast the net, which infers grant/job submissions and interviews experiences. It is important to build a net durable and strong enough to prey. The fishing net comes from many lines, but to cast the ‘research’ net, each line can represent the dry and/or wet skills to proceed experiments, the ability to publish peer-reviewed articles, the background knowledge, the teaching experience, and the teamwork/collaborative skills.
The net is not the larger the better, if you want to prey some unique and experience fish, some special skills are needed and your previous experience preying such kind of fish would help a lot. For example, to prey a machine learning based medical research ‘fish’:
There are many kinds of fish, such as epigenomic ‘fish’ and metagenomic ‘fish’ as well. But it is important to balance your time fasten each knots and knit the line together durable and strong enough to cast this research net.
