Life is not all you can eat but all you shall taste.
It has been five months since this summer arrival in Saskatoon. After a quick peek of its colorful autumn during Thanksgiving, winter came with its first snow last month, when I was a little shocked, but it is actually not too bad so far. The snow melt without seeing anything quickly, now the sunshine warms the weather a little bit above zero each day. In this Remembrance day long weekend, I was able to jump out of daily work and life routine a little bit to put something into words.
Saskatoon is around 5.5 hours' drive from Edmonton and 6.5 hours' drive from Calgary. The former one is through trans-Canada highway which is easier to drive, while the latter one has the famous Banff and Calgary Zoo. Edmonton has the largest inner mall (West Edmonton Mall) in Canada and quite a lot shopping options. Calgary is indeed a place for real estate heaven which is hilly, prosperous and mild in weather, and also a lot of fun including Calgary zoo and Banff. As there are millions living there which raising up the cost of living, unlike Saskatoon given its 30,000 population which is the cheapest on grocery stores, restaurants and houses in major cities of Canada. I can name many unique local buffet restaurants and bars with their cuisines reputed. But it is all about swings and roundabouts, let along it is far from mountain and ocean scene.
Joys are always at the moment, just like all you can eat is usually limited for 2 hrs dining period. This is not only for controlling the cost, avoiding the waste or allowing more customers to dine in, but let you memorize the joyful moment to come back next time. This reminds me of the long-term happiness of life requiring all you shall taste but not all you can eat.
There are many things can be explored in each day of life. Work, family, gym, reading, writing, and thinking etc. Not single one of them can bring you long term joy, just like became a workaholic cannot help you reach life work balance, stayed with family all day long won’t help with your career and salary increase. To make each day meaningful, we shall ‘taste’ every part of life: moving forward the job progress, spending time with family members, doing exercises which can benefit body, improve personal skills for future potentials, reading more books to improve thinking and writing skills, keep writing hobbies which can benefit mind peace.
